For more than ten years, GRANDER® revitalized water has been used at the Joanneum museums for restoration purposes – and the results speak for themselves.

After ten years at the Joanneum, there is no doubt that GRANDER revitalized water has a place in the world of arts. In the restoration of artworks, water is, for instance, used for mixing primers, glues, and solutions as well as cleaning highly sensitive surfaces. Early this year, Johannes Larch witnessed the influence of GRANDER revitalized water on the effectiveness of restoration works for himself when he delivered a speech on Defining Water Quality in the course of the Restoration Day at the Johanneum museums complex.

By using GRANDER revitalized water, Joanneum was able to extend the durability of the above-mentioned liquids from 14 days to up to six months. And cleaning results were improved to boot.

Dr. Paul Bernhard Eipper, board member of the Egon Schiele Research Society and head of Joanneum’s Department for Conservation and Restoration, stresses that ever since his organization introduced GRANDER water revitalization, cleaning has been carried out either completely without the use of surfactants or with at least 50% less the amount usually used.

The restorers at Joanneum discovered that GRANDER revitalized water improves the wettability of substances. This leads to spotless and more even results and streak-free drying when cleaning oil-painted surfaces.

The light object Portaaviones by the Cuban art collective Los Carpinteros, which is part of the TBA21 art collection in Vienna, is a particularly impressive example highlighting the long-term effectiveness of GRANDER revitalized water. Made out of various hard materials (fiberglass, wood, etc.), this artwork resembles an aircraft carrier filled with water and has features similar to a swimming pool. In the past, the integrated water pump tended to get congested with slime if the object’s water was not changed every two weeks.

Following the application of the GRANDER Energy Rod for a mere 20 seconds, water no longer had to be changed for the whole exhibition duration of three months. Instead, only the evaporated water had to be replaced.

Also at the Kunsthaus Graz, where the GRANDER Energy Rod is used as well, and various other museums where Portaaviones has been shown, no more slime formations appeared within the water pump and natural lime deposits became easier to remove.

‘GRANDER revitalized water makes our daily restoration work significantly easier,’ says Dr. Eipper.
